Single Roll Roller Die

 |
Features of the RMS Single Roll Roller Die:
In the head section of the Single Roll Roller Die the pressure builds up the same as in a conventional
extrusion head. Our advantage is in the specially designed preform die and roll combination. The preform
allows the high pressure to be released when the compound reaches the roll. The roll wipes the compound
past the final die in a short distance - similar to a calender. Low pressure equals low die swell and this
produces very accurate extruded strips.

Comparison of Profile Calenders and Extruders to the Single Roll Roller Die:
|
ADVANTAGES OF PROFILE CALENDERS
· High line speed
· Ability to calender thin sections
· Low pressure extrusions
· Low die swell
· Control tack
DISADVANTAGES OF PROFILE CALENDERS
· Costly profile rolls
· Costly roll change over time
· Limitations of calendering thick sections with blistering resulting
· Costly down time of roll profile changes
· Cannot produce undercut sections
· Limited to a single compound
ADVANTAGES OF EXTRUDERS
· Low final die costs
· Medium line speed
· Short time for die changes
DISADVANTAGES OF EXTRUDERS
· Limited thin sections
· Uncontrolled die swell
· Limitations on extrusion straightness especially on sections with various thickness
· Loss of tack
|
 |
SINGLE ROLL DIE ROLLER DIE:
· Comparable line speed
· Controlled thickness through roll speed adjustment
· Dense extrusion capabilities and the reduction of porosity
· Reduced extrusion temperatures due to low extruder head pressures
· Simple die plates and low die change over time
· Adaptable to hot and cold feed extruder systems
· Configurations with undercuts which cannot be calendered
· Extrusion of both thin and thick sections

The RMS Single Roll Roller Die:
- Available in single, duplex, triplex, and quadraplex models capable of producing single or multiple extrudates in all models.
- Roll adjustment is provided to move the roll against the die face.
- Quick change die system consists of a preform die and a final die. The preform die provides a flow channel transition section from the head cavity exit to the final die. Preform dies are interchangeable. The final die is a simple design and can be easily made by the user.
- Optional feature is the trim system. Spring loaded rotary trim knife assemblies trim on a driven hardened rotary anvil roll. The knife assembly can be adjusted and easily moved in and out of position by the operator.
Some Applications for Single Roll Roller Die:
As A Primary Extrusion System
- Single component of various shapes
- Multiple components of the same profiles
- Multiple components of slightly different profile
- Thick to thin profiles
- Back angle profiles
- Sheet sizes down to .030" with exceptions
- Slug production for miscellaneous product moldings
As A Secondary Extrusion System
- Provides a profile to hot laminate to the primary strip from another system.
- Strip feeding special calendering applications.
